Details
Acme Fresh Market is a 125 year-old chain of grocery stores with 17 locations throughout northeastern Ohio. When the Akron-based business opened a new location in Green, Ohio, the design team of Steve Albrecht, Schumacher Designs, and Krumroy-Cozad Construction sought input to include quilt based designs throughout the new store. Drawing upon the popularity of the recent quilt barn movement, two eight foot blocks were created to flank a larger fourteen foot sampler block. These three blocks are hanging at the entrance to the store above the main front window.
Information
Many, many designs and color variations were created combining traditional quilt patterns and illustrations of food items. Nine were chosen for the large central sampler quilt barn block. The two flanking smaller blocks mirror the quilt patterns selected for the floor tiles below and include food iconography as well.
